Colm Moloney has 37 years of commercial archaeological experience with 35 years at project management level or above. He has overseen the successful management of large, complex projects in the UK, Ireland and Germany, notably on energy and transport projects. Colm is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and Member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland. Colm acts as project manager and/or project director (with financial and contractual oversight) on large, complex projects and has acted as Senior Archaeologist on multi-million-euro infrastructural developments in the UK, Ireland and Germany which he has delivered from tender through to final publication.

Patricia has over 20 years experience in the archaeological services sector and has been with Rubicon Archaeology since 2003. She is currently responsible for archaeological operations within the company, overseeing all aspects of Rubicon’s archaeological services from fieldwork through to post excavation, with a focus on quality assurance. She acts as project manager and/or project director (with financial and contractual oversight) on the largest and most complex projects. Having directed excavations on a large number of sites across Ireland, Patricia has acted as Senior Archaeologist on a number of multi-million-euro infrastructural developments in Ireland and the UK, working closely with clients such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Roads Service Northern Ireland and Fusion/ HS2. In addition to her managerial experience Patricia has reported on a wide range of important sites and has published and lectured widely on the results of these excavations.

Claire has 28 years of administrative experience and has worked in the archaeological/heritage sector since 2009. She has worked at various levels within the group structure and is a key player in major infrastructure projects throughout the UK, Ireland and Germany. Claire works closely with the project directors/managers to maintain a collaborative working environment which ensures client, internal and other stakeholders’ requirements are effectively managed. She directs both commercial and operational aspects on major contracts and is effective in conflict resolution. She is a member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.

Martin Straßburger has been active in archaeology since 1991. After completing his community service in lignite archaeology at the Rhineland Office for Monument Preservation, he studied prehistory and early history, medieval archaeology, Christian archaeology and Byzantine art history, and geology in Bonn, Cologne, Freiburg im Breisgau, and Munich. He received his doctorate from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2014. His excavation experience extends to monasteries, churches, rural settlements from various periods, and castles. He eventually specialised in mining archaeology. In addition to providing specialist archaeological support, he has also participated in research projects at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. In collaboration with the Ecomuseo Argentario in Civezzano, he conducted mining archaeological surveys on the Monte Calisio plateau near Trento and participated in research into pre-colonial mining in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. From 2012 to 2015, he worked at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation in Munich as a research assistant in the field of old mining in Bavaria. From 2015 onwards, he ran a consultancy for mining archaeology, which, in addition to mining, smelting, and metal working, also dealt with souterrains and rock cellars throughout Bavaria. As part of his activities, he advised on mining archaeological issues related to the route of the Schwandorf-Forchheim Loopline in 2016/2017. From September 2019, he took over the redesign and reconceptualization of the permanent archaeological exhibition of the Wittelsbach Museum as project manager for the town of Aichach an der Paar. From 2021 to 2024, he headed the Annaberg-Buchholz Municipal Museums, which also include two objects in the UNESCO World Heritage Montanregion Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří. Subsequently, he worked on, among other things, smithing slags from the Manching oppidum and worked as a freelancer on a joint project between the Coin Cabinet of the Dresden State Art Collections and the Adam-Ries-Association.

Tom Lowry is an accomplished operations and HR leader with over three decades of experience across government, defence, and international organisations. He is currently the Personnel Operations Manager at Rubicon Archaeology, where he oversees HR management, recruitment, training and development, and operational delivery across multiple sites in Germany. Previously, Tom served as a British Sea Fisheries Officer with the Marine Directorate, leading compliance operations, inter-agency collaboration, and enforcement across UK waters. Earlier in his career, he managed 24-hour international security operations in the Gulf of Aden and spent over 20 years in the Irish Naval Service, with leadership roles on UN and NATO missions in Kosovo, Liberia, and Lebanon. Holding a BA in Leadership, Management and Naval Studies and working towards a Bachelor of Laws, Tom combines strategic insight with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. Approachable, adaptable, and results-driven, he thrives in complex, high-pressure environments and is committed to building strong, motivated teams.
