OPERATIONS MANAGER

Philipp Zander has extensive experience in site excavation, logistics and personnel management in numerous archaeological projects from the Mesolithic to modern ages, of every size and form and under any circumstances from the beginning to the final completion of the project, in close communication with the client and authorities in Germany (Bavaria), Austria, Italy and Romania (2011-2024). Originating from Augsburg – an archaeological hotspot in southern Germany – Philipp is particularly passionate about town centre excavations with highly complex structures and multifaceted management conditions. Another focus is on Mining Archaeology with field and theoretical research (2013-2018). Philipp’s academic education at LMU Munich comprises pre- and proto-historic ages in Europe, with a special focus on Early Urnfield Culture and in close cooperation with neighbouring sciences. His comprehensive knowledge and abilities are complemented by geology, pedology, anthropology, zooarchaeology and archaeobotany, as well as presenting and publishing the research and results of excavations.
